Computer Keyboard Tray Basics

There are a few basic principles to keep in mind when shopping for a new adjustable keyboard tray system that will save you time and money. Most computer keyboard trays have the same list of core components which makes it easy to give tips and advice on what to look for. Usually there is a main keyboard platform with an attached mouse tray (most of the time there are various styles of mouse trays to choose from and they are pre-attached at the factory), the adjustment mechanism (sometimes called an "arm") which attaches your keyboard tray to your desk, and the steel mounting track that gets screwed into the underside of your work surface. Once the track is mounted to the bottom of your desk the mechanism is then attached to the track, and then the keyboard and mouse platforms are bolted to the arm. Each manufacturer of keyboard tray systems will have their own variations of these main products and you can normally mix and match different pieces to create a custom system perfect for your environment. However, the more customized you get the more expensive the system generally becomes.
